Ice Age Children and their World

The new children's hall

from 21. May 2025
The Ice Age is fascinating. However, in exhibitions and museums, the topic is usually told from the perspective of adults. In the newly designed permanent exhibition ‘Ice Age children and their world’, the focus is now on the children's experiences. What was everyday life like for Ice Age children? What did the environment, home, food, art and play mean to them? From May 2025, young (and old) visitors to the Natural History Museum Vienna will be able to discover knowledge about the Ice Age in a playful and tangible way.

The prehistory, geology, science communication and exhibition management departments worked together on the exhibition. The ideas of three school groups were also incorporated into the project. The architects Schuberth and Schuberth were commissioned to realise the design.
