The Natural History Museum Vienna offers an extensive programme as part of the Long Night of Research. The NHM Vienna is one
of the most important research institutions in Austria. Research projects of the departments of prehistory and anthropology,
guided tours through collections and laboratories, identification of precious stones, the digital planetarium, the City Nature
Challenge 2022 and the exchange with researchers on Deck 50 offer an insight into the research work of the museum. In the
Narrenturm ("Fools Tower"), the newly designed exhibition rooms give visitors an understanding of the history of disease and
pathology.
The Long Night of Research will take place on Friday,
20 May 2022, from 17:00 to 23:00 with free admission.

Laboratory on Deck 50.
Mineralogist Vera M. F. Hammer will determine guests' gemstones using Raman spectroscopy from 17:00 to 23:00.
Biodiversity in Vienna: City Nature-Challenge and the Citizen Science platform iNaturalist
hands-on station.
In 2022, the NHM Vienna organised the City Nature Challenge Vienna for the first time, in which Citizen Scientists around the world survey which and how many species of animals, plants and fungi live in their environment over four days. Between 29 April and 2 May 2022, the City Nature Challenge 2022 took place worldwide and anyone could participate. The results of CNC 22 Vienna are presented by Lorin Timaeus and Nikolaus Szucsich.
Do you know how many little stars there are? An evening with the Vienna Working Group for Astronomy
From 20:00 to 23:00 at Maria-Theresien-Platz in front of the NHM Vienna.
Guests can take a look at the starry sky with the help of telescopes of the Vienna Working Group for Astronomy.
Pathological-anatomical collection in the Narrenturm
Branch in the Narrenturm, Spitalgasse 2, 1090 Vienna.
In the course of the renovation of the listed building, the permanent exhibition was for the first time systematically arranged according to the criteria of pathology. The aim is to convey the contents of the collection not only to doctors, medical students or nurses, but also to schoolchildren or the interested lay public.
