The "Haag"-Meteorite - new addition to the Meteorite Hall
On 24 October 2024, a meteorite fell near Haag in Lower Austria. One particular fragment landed directly on the roof of the
Westermayr family's house, where it broke into three pieces. The impact of the meteorite on a man-made structure turned it
into a ‘hammerstone’ - the first time such an event has been documented in Austria! The fragments (28.6 g) were purchased
by the NHM Vienna and are now on display in the Meteorite Hall (Hall 5).
